Scheduling an Event

We love being a place for authors to come and meet their readers. We do receive a large number of event requests, so please consider the following before you reach out to schedule an event.

Types of Events Hosted by Park Road Books

  • Book signing: you, the author, will be at the author's desk near the front of our store for 1 1/2 hours. You will have the opportunity to greet customers as they walk in and talk about your book.
  • Book discussion and signing: during this event, you will have the opportunity to read from your book and have a discussion and question and answer session with the audience. You will also have the opportunity to sign books for the guests.
  • Events are held January through November, Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. (Adult fiction/nonfiction books are usually held in the evenings.)
  • All sales regardless of type of event will go through our register.

Scheduling an Event

  • If your book is published by a major publisher (Random House, Penguin, Harper Collins, etc.) please contact us at events@parkroadbooks.com three to four months before publication.
  • If your book is a part of our consignment program, it must be in the store for at least 30 days before requesting an event. After that time, please contact us at events@parkroadbooks.com. All events are subject to approval.

Promoting the Author Event

Promoting by the host and author are necessary components of a successful event.

  • We will promote your event in our store with flyers in our front window and bulletin board. Your event will be listed on our website with a link to purchase your book. We will create a Facebook event and will have graphics posted on Instagram.
  • Ways you can promote your event: tell everyone you know – friends, family, co-workers, people you pass on the street, etc. – that your book is available at Park Road Books and the date of your event.
  • Reach out to local papers, radio stations, and other media groups. You never know who might be interested in running a story on you and your book.
  • Take advantage of your social media presence by advertising your event and book.
