A New Reading Challenge &  Book Club!

Join us to talk about God Themselves virtually!

The Challenge: We are challenging our community to step out of their reading comfort-zones and read a new genre or type of book you may not naturally pick up. Each month we will curate selections that fit the challenge, and we will feature them here, in-store, and on social media. We would love for you to share with us and tag us via our social media what you are reading for the challenge! This month's challenge is to read a book of poetry

The Book Club:

We will also host a virtual book club that will discuss a book that fits that month's challenge. This book club is free and open to anyone. We will offer 20% off the book club if you want to purchase it from us. With us, you may buy in-store, call in, or do curbside pickup. You may buy online, but you must select PAY AT STORE, to receive the discount. Then, you can pay at the store, over the phone, or in personYou may also rent it from the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library.

We will meet April 28, 2024, at 7PM.

This Month's challenge is read book of poetry. And the Book Club pick is...

God Themselves by Jae Nichelle

Let this book be a celebration of queerness, Blackness, and love. Let these words be a modern church, these poems a holy space.

Rising star and spoken word poet Jae Nichelle debuts her luminous thoughts in God Themselves, a new collection of stirring poetry. Nichelle taps into her experiences of growing up in the South as a queer Black woman to courageously confront the affects of a forced religion and the inherent dangers of living life in a female body. God Themselves is divided into three equally moving sections: Everything, Everywhere, and Love. Nichelle braids her wisdom––as seen in the poem “What to Do When There’s Nothing You Can Do”––and witty generational humor––seen in "Sanctity: An Exposé"––into every poem. If you’ve ever contemplated who, what, and where God is, find comfort in these words.
