Marjy Marj presents The Shimmigrant

Marjorie will be joined by her son, author, Adam Appiah. Adam has written two books, Bouncing Back from Failure and Kids can Change the World. Adam will be signing them during the event. 

The Sihimmigrant is a poignant yet optimistic story about the plight of a young immigrant. At the age of twelve, she was a servant. By thirteen, she had journeyed to a foreign land. The Shimmigrant is a compelling story of a young girl's will to survive against all odds. 



Author Bio: 

Marjy Marj is a Ghanaian American writer based in South Carolina. After graduating from the Universities of Ghana and Baltimore, she studied Project Management, Writing, and Nonprofit Management at Duke University. She is the author of The Shimmigrant.

Varsity soccer and JV basketball player, Adom Appiah is the author of Bouncing Back from Failure and Kids Can Change the World both of which are recommended reading for students. Adom participated in the 2017 and 2018 Scripps National Spelling Bees. He is the founder of Ball4Good, a nonprofit organization supporting communities through sports. In 2018, Adom received the Mary L. Thomas Award for Civic Leadership & Community Change. He is a 2019 Prudential Spirit of Community State Honoree.
