"A Frankenstein-esque novel narrated by a teenage genius with an attitude."  - Kirkus

After a deadly accident, 17 year old Hemingway Jones takes his father's body to the Biotech Research Institute in Kannapolis where he works as an intern. Hijacking the lab overnight, Hemingway does what none of the doctors have been able to do: reviving someone from the dead. Only when Bill Jones wakes, he's not entirely human anymore -- his skin has gone ashen gray, his eyes have yellowed, he can't exist in temperatures above 55 degrees, and he's digesting hydrogen sulfide instead of food. Although Hemingway is determined to never give away the secret of what he did, the owner of Biotech offers him a Faustian bargain: he can work at the lab to repeat the experiment and his father will have what he needs or go to prison and his father will die again, alone and in agony.
