Author Event: Anne Rosen - Deep South Dispatch

Deep South Dispatch delivers a stunning and deeply personal account of benchmark moments in the civil rights movement with vivid first-hand accounts by John N. Herbers, who covered the historic period for more than a decade for United Press International and The New York Times. This timely perspective on race relations and the importance of a free press transcends time and gives retrospective context to the civil and political unrest of today. The New York Times Book Review describes "Deep South Dispatch" as "a gripping and painfully vivid account of the mid-20th-century South," and The Wall Street Journal said, "Herbers's account of his own awakening to racial injustice in the South is one of the most salient aspects." The book is co-authored with his daughter, Anne Farris Rosen.
