Consignment Program

How can I get my book on the shelves at Park Road Books?

  • If your book is published by a major publisher (Random House, Penguin, Harper Collins, etc.), please contact us directly by e-mail at books@parkroadbooks.com.
  • You live in the Greater Charlotte area.
  • If your book is self-published or published through a smaller press, we offer a consignment program. Consignment allows us to carry and feature a larger selection of local authors and other self-published or print-on-demand books that we would otherwise be unable to carry.
  • If you need help determining which your book would be, please contact consignment@parkroadbooks.com.

Consignment Policy

Each book that we bring into our store reflects our business and our commitment to our community. We aim to carry the best possible selection for our customers, and product quality is a major part of our consideration. Before submitting the Consignment Agreement, please make sure your book includes the following:

  • Your book is professionally bound or manufactured with a proper spine
  • Your book must have a registered 13 digit ISBN
  • Your jacket art should be clear, not pixelated and not grainy
  • Your title and name should be printed on the book spine
  • Your book was published within the last year

  • All correspondence regarding consignment will be done via email. consignment@parkroadbooks.com
  • It is the author's responsibility to ensure we always have a current email/address/phone number during the consignment period.
  • In promotional materials, authors must add Park Road Books to their list of places to purchase the book, and link to our website.
  • Park Road Books will carry consignment books for a minimum of 6 (six) months and initially take 5 (five) copies of the book.
  • Payment is on a semi-annual basis (end of January and end of July). Park Road Books will pay 60% of the retail price to the author. Payments are made for items sold through our register only.
  • All shipping charges (for books returned to the author), damaged, or stolen items are the sole financial responsibility of the author.
  • Park Road Books will contact the author when more copies are needed. Any unsolicited books or restock won't be accepted.
  • When the consignment period is over and author is contacted to pick up remaining books, all books left more than one month will be donated.
  • Authors will bring in completed one consignment form and the $25.00 non-refundable handling fee for each title taken on consignment.
  • The book must be in the store for at least 30 days before discussing an event. Please see Scheduling an Event under the For Authors tab for more details.
